  Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What is Wanderlust Caribbean and who is it best for?
Answer: Wanderlust Caribbean is a complete adventure vacation based in Dominica, offering all-inclusive travel experiences that combine guided outdoor exploration with personalized comfort. We specialize in curated, small-group adventures—like hiking, snorkeling, river trekking, and cultural immersion—designed for active travelers seeking a deeper connection to nature and place. Your stay includes boutique, ocean-view accommodations, daily guided activities, and seamless service from arrival to departure. It's not just a vacation—it's a journey crafted from start to finish.

Question: What’s included in your curated adventure packages?
Answer: Oceanfront lodging, daily full breakfast, guided nature adventures (e.g., signature hikes, waterfalls, snorkeling, canyoning river days), airport guidance/transfer info, ground transport on guided days, and trip planning/concierge. We host select dinners at the hotel; other evenings, you’ll dine out locally to enjoy Dominica’s authentic cuisine.

Question: Do you accept solo travelers?
Answer: Not at this time. With only five suites, pricing assumes double occupancy to keep trips reasonably priced. Our adventures are tailored for pairs and small groups. If you’re traveling alone, consider bringing a friend or partner.

Question: What fitness or skill level do I need for multi-activity adventures?
Answer: A moderate baseline of fitness is recommended. Dominica’s terrain is mountainous and rugged and isn’t ideal for travelers with mobility limitations.

Question: Is Dominica safe for adventure travel?
Answer: Yes. Dominica is known for safe, nature-forward adventures and has no dangerous land mammals or venomous snakes. We operate with certified guides, safety briefings, and proper equipment for technical activities like canyoning. Trails can be rugged—that’s why we guide.

Question: When is the best time to visit Dominica for hiking and snorkeling?
Answer: Year-round. December–May tends to be drier with long-view hiking; June–November has warmer temperatures and water—great for snorkeling and river days. Daily high temperatures range from 82F - 88F during the year.  We plan daily outings around local microclimates.

Question: How does the touring work with multiple couples each week?

Answer: We typically have three to four couples booked each week and host planning calls with guests before they arrive so we can create a custom itinerary for each group.  Guests staying six or more nights get to choose a Tour of Choice to customize their vacation experience.  We typically have a few days each week where we offer two tour tracks for different activity levels.  Other days will be small group travel with everyone participating together.

Question: How do flights and airport transfers work?
Answer: From the U.S./Canada, popular routings connect via Miami (AA) or Newark (United); from the U.K., via Barbados; from Northern Europe, many connect KLM Amsterdam → St. Maarten → Dominica. Fly into Douglas-Charles (DOM) on Dominica’s northeast coast. Taxis outside customs can bring you to Calibishie in 20 minutes for about US$40. We handle ground transport on guided days.

Question: Can you provide a detailed itinerary for my vacation?

Answer: After hosting calls with guests each week, we create an itinerary that is subject to weather and local trail conditions.  We can communicate the overall plan upon arrival but will arrange the tours to maximize guest experience.

Question: What gear is provided—and what should I pack?
Answer: We provide specialized gear as needed (e.g., canyoning equipment, flotation, snorkeling gear, safety kit). Please bring broken-in hiking shoes, reef-safe sunscreen, quick-dry layers, a light rain jacket, daypack, and a reusable water bottle. After booking, you’ll receive a season-specific packing list.

Question: Do I need a passport or visa to visit Dominica?
Answer: A valid passport is required. Most guests from North America and Europe do not need a visa for vacation travel. Always confirm your country’s current entry rules on Discover Dominica or with your government travel site.

Question: What is your cancellation policy?
Answer:

  • Standard bookings: Cancel >30 days before arrival—accepted. Within 30 days—no refund, but you may reschedule and apply your full payment.

  • Private group bookings: Within 90 days—no refund, but you may reschedule with full payment applied.

  • Rescheduling window: The new stay must occur within 2 years of the original arrival date; Dec 15–Jan 7 is excluded (special rates apply).
